The team behind WantsThis has been hard at work the last two months rolling out a smorgasbord of new features! The next round of updates is currently being worked on, but until then take a look at what’s recently been added to the site:
Mark as Purchased
Our most requested feature arrives! Users can now mark items on friends and families lists as being purchased.
Private Comments
Users commenting on each others lists can now mark the comment as private. This prevents the owner of the list from seeing the comment, so no more ruined surprises!
Price Charts
The prices of items are now tracked and if the price has been adjusted you can quickly and easily see it’s history. This is great for a lot of items that are seasonal or for letting you know when a product might be getting phased out. To use this new feature, go to any item on your list and look for a chart icon next to the price, simply mouseover that icon and check that items history.
New Navigation
The navigation and interface for a lot of the site has been tweaked to make getting around easier. A lot of our design is based on user feedback, so always let us know if you think something should or could work better.
Popular Searches
This new page is a fun and helpful way to see the popular searched for items on our site. This is great for seeing what products are in demand!
Item Search
The product search has been tweaked and will now suggest items as you are typing, helpful for narrowing down the exact name of an item.
Price Comparison Fixes
We’ve streamlined the price comparison feature to prevent it from incorrectly changing prices on items that don’t fluctuate in price. If you still don’t want us to show you a lowest competing price, you can now also remove it from that item.
Free Shipping
Working with select retailers, we are now able to show if an item in your list offers free shipping.
We have just added the ability to comment directly onto the items you friend wants.
This is a great way to get more infomation about something before you purchase it or if you want to add more information not included in a decription.

Based on some user comments, we just added the ability to add non-specific items.
This works great for when you just want a “jacket” or a “$500 digital camera” but are unsure which exact model you need. It also works great for those intangible things like a “vacation in Fiji”. Try it and, we’d love to hear your feedback.
Lots of great changes (mostly from suggestions of our users) and a ton of things fixed. As usual just let us know what you love or hate!
